    The ontological representation of products and services is a core challenge on the road to business applications for the Semantic Web. This will not only help search engines provide more precise product search for human users, but can be expected to support a much higher degree of business process automation in general, especially in all tasks that involve content integration. In industrial data interchange between business partners, the state of the art is the use of common XML schema definitions (e.g. BMEcat) for the representation of structure and the use of classification schemes (e.g. UNSPSC or eCl@ss) for the representation of product semantics. This current practice, however, takes place in well-defined contexts known to both the publisher of data and the recipient, which allows even the usage of the same standard with varying semantics in distinct settings. In a Semantic Web context in contrast, the same document must be machine-readable (1) by a huge number of different partners (2) for a multiplicity of purposes. In other words, the data recipient and the data usage are not predetermined, which makes it much more difficult to reach consensus e.g. about suitable product classes. This paper develops the requirements for product representation in the Semantic Web and evaluates existing alternatives

    Business process management (BPM) is the approach to manage the execution of IT-supported business operations from a business expert's view rather than from a technical perspective. However, the degree of mechanization in BPM is still very limited, creating inertia in the necessary evolution and dynamics of business processes, and BPM does not provide a truly unified view on the process space of an organization. We trace back the problem of mechanization of BPM to an ontological one, i.e. the lack of machine-accessible semantics, and argue that the modeling constructs of semantic Web services frameworks, especially WSMO, are a natural fit to creating such a representation. As a consequence, we propose to combine SWS and BPM and create one consolidated technology, which we call semantic business process management (SBPM

In this article, we present a new cache analysis framework that generalizes and improves work on cache persistence analysis. The analysis demonstrates that a global view on the cache behavior permits the precise analyses of caches which are hard to analyze by inspecting cache state locally

    A kinetic Fokker–Planck approach for modeling variable hard-sphere gas mixtures

    Kinetic Fokker-Planck (FP) methods for modeling rarefied gas flows have received increasing attention over the last few years. However, formulating such models for realistic multi-species gases is still an open subject of research. Therefore, in this letter, we develop a kinetic FP model for describing gas mixtures with particles interacting according to the variable hard-sphere interaction potential. In accordance with the kinetic FP framework, a stochastic solution algorithm is employed in order to solve the model on a particle level. Different test cases are carried out, and the performance of the proposed method is compared with the direct simulation Monte Carlo algorithm

    In this paper we show how the perturbative procedure known as {\em stochastic limit} may be useful in the analysis of the Open BCS model discussed by Buffet and Martin as a spin system interacting with a fermionic reservoir. In particular we show how the same values of the critical temperature and of the order parameters can be found with a significantly simpler approach

    Chern-Simons Theory as the Large Mass Limit of Topologically Massive Yang-Mills Theory

    We study quantum Chern-Simons theory as the large mass limit of the limit D→3D\to 3 of dimensionally regularized topologically massive Yang-Mills theory. This approach can also be interpreted as a BRS-invariant hybrid regularization of Chern-Simons theory, consisting of a higher-covariant derivative Yang-Mills term plus dimensional regularization. Working in the Landau gauge, we compute radiative corrections up to second order in perturbation theory and show that there is no two-loop correction to the one-loop shift k→k+cV,  kk\rightarrow k+ c_{\scriptscriptstyle V},\,\,k being the bare Chern-Simons parameter.     Effective control of persistent hyperparathyroidism with cinacalcet in renal allograft recipients

    Background. Cinacalcet rapidly normalizes serum calcium and reduces intact parathyroid hormone (PTH) levels in renal transplant patients with hypercalcaemia and persistent hyperparathyroidism. The aim of this study is to evaluate the 6 months efficacy of cinacalcet and the effect of cinacalcet withdrawal on serum calcium and PTH in such patients. Furthermore, the impact of cinacalcet on bone turnover and quality of life was assessed. Methods. Twelve renal allograft recipients with hypercalcaemia due to persistent hyperparathyroidism were treated with cinacalcet for 26 weeks. Cinacalcet was then withdrawn to check for recurrence of hypercalcaemia. Results. Cinacalcet maintained normocalcaemia in all patients from week 4 to 26, and PTH significantly decreased and remained suppressed. Serum phosphate increased, whereas the serum calcium-phosphate product remained unchanged. The excretion of calcium and phosphate in the 24 h urine had tendency to decrease. After cinacalcet was withdrawn, hypercalcaemia recurred rapidly and PTH increased to baseline values. Renal function remained stable, proteinuria was unchanged and no allograft rejection was observed. During treatment with cinacalcet, total and bone-specific alkaline phosphatase increased, whereas the urinary deoxypyridinoline-creatinine ratio did not change significantly, suggesting enhanced bone formation. Quality of life assessed at weeks 10 and 26 remained unchanged compared with baseline. Conclusions. In conclusion, continued treatment with cinacalcet is required to maintain long-term normocalcaemia and to suppress the enhanced PTH production in renal transplant recipients with persistent hyperparathyroidis
